Hetty Gunderud

Hetty Gunderud is rarely seen without yarn or fleece close by.   Born and raised in London, England and the suburbs,  I started knitting, sewing and embroidery at age 4 1/2 years, and have not stopped since then.   I love to try new and  different ways of doing the crafts I have learned and having fun with them.

I arrived in Woodstock, NY in 1961 with a degree in Occupational Therapy and was arts and crafts counselor at my Aunt's children's camp.   I met my husband there and stayed.   Learned weaving and other fiber crafts as part of my training to teach to patients to treat their physical and psychological problems.   Got my Masters at Columbia, NYC and completed at Marist, Poughkeepsie, NY in '92, with a class in teaching the adult student.

I have taught various crafts in NY and for Knitting Guild of America in Florida.   I taught crafts and to OT Assistants at Orange County Community College as part of my teaching there.    I have taught at Adult Education in the School system in Wappingers Falls, NY and at local guilds and yarn shops.

I believe that having a good time is as important as the learning.
