Nica Rabinowitz of Fiberhouse Collective, will teach participants how to extract rich blue hues from the indigo plant. This workshop will explore the ancient process of natural dyeing with indigo. Participants will learn how to set up a fermented indigo vat. We will explore shibori resist dyeing techniques and have the opportunity to dip dye locally sourced yarn and roving. Participants may bring their own animal-based fibers to dip as well (old silk or wool garments/accessories/yarn/roving/etc.) 

No experience required 

Materials Provided by Instructor:
Indigo, Fructose, Calcium Hydroxide, Silk, Wool, Hot Plate, Dye Pot 

Maximum of 3 dips per person. 


Materials Provided by Student:
their own yarn/roving if they want, protective clothing and gloves.
