Fractal Yarn: Blend & Spin - SOLD OUT LIMITED

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

What is Fractal Yarn?  Take this class and find out the different colors you can get by preparing your fibers to create a fractal interplay of color that can be extraordinarily involved or incredibly simple.

In this course we will explore preparation methods and how spinning techniques effect the finished yarn and resulting handmade cloth. We will begin by blending our own Fractal progression using the drumcarder and a blending board.

We will then spin our resulting preparation. Plying methods that are suited to getting the best results will be covered with pattern suggestions that will show off your fractal yarn.

Level of experience: Advanced Beginner (must be able to spin and ply on their wheel)

Materials Provided by Instructor: all supplies (a 3 oz Fractal blending kit, Fractal color cards, handouts), drum carders, and blending boards for student use

Materials Provided by Student: a spinning wheel or espinner  in good working order
NOTE: a drop spindle will also work but will be more difficult to keep up with classmates with wheels (i am able to assist with spinning equipment of all kinds within reason)

OPTIONAL
: students are welcome to bring their own drum carder or blending board to class to use

Homework: none
