Shawl Pins: 3 Ways with Wirecore
Limited Capacity seats available

Shawl pins are a personal expression and an extension of the long hours it takes us to complete our handwork.

This workshop will focus on three different traditional pin styles in recycled copper that offer very different closure options.  We will embellish our recycled copper base pins with flexible handspun wirecore yarn for a colorful accent. The humble shawl stick, the versatile fibula (a safety pin style,) and the graceful penannular brooch (a circular shape with a small break in it) will all be explored.

Light hammering, texturing, and forming with the addition of handspun yarn and a simple aged patina will be combined to create custom pins to secure everything from the most delicate lace to the coziest bulky shawl.
